History

Our Roots and Inspiration
The South Shore Women’s Business Network Educational Foundation, Inc. (EFI) was founded in 1998, in memory of former SSWBN President, Marion Overhiser. Marion began her career in the field of nursing. Years later, while working full time and raising two children, she decided to return to the classroom to study accounting and business. She went on to become the founding partner of a successful CPA firm, Overhiser & Dougherty. Marion, in turn, was dedicated to encouraging other women to seek the proper education and training to reach their career goals and dreams.

Our Motivation and Your Contributions Help Us Do More
With your support, we are well on our way to adding new and exciting programs for career development beyond the annual scholarships. For example, we are currently adding a new grant program for SSWBN members. We want to empower the recipients to go after the necessary education and training they need for the growth and success of their business.

Though we have made great strides since 1998, we want to do more.

By contributing to the Foundation, you ARE making a difference. Please consider making a tax-deductible donation today. Call us at 781-335-4055 or online Donate Now.

“It has been my dream to be a teacher of children with special needs since I was in the fourth grade. This dream would be unreachable for me without the support of my community. Your scholarship is a vital expression of that community support.”
